Introduction:
Despite judicial rulings that have pushed back against the proliferation of abortion in the world, the ghastly devastation that is abortion continues almost unabated. FORMED brings resources, information, and help to those who decide to protect life in their own bodies, their families, their churches and communities, and their world.
Encourage Education Within Schools and Religious Education Programs
Practically speaking, while it is wonderful to focus on October (Respect Life Month), a deep and enduring ethic of life can be built by a regular and often repeated set of teachings and reminders about life from conception until natural death.
Some best practices include:
· Encourage education within schools and Religious Education programs
· The Augustine Institute Sacramental Preparation Programs (RCIA, Baptism, Marriage Prep, etc.) have various pro-life themes. Not all programs have this broad of an approach. Consider using our programs across the board for consistency.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: “Since the first century, the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law” (No. 2271).
